Day 1 DHE Treatment
Well today was a long day. I walked into the clinic with a 5 for a migraine. I had to fill out a few things before I went back. The nurses and the doctors where really nice. I had to get stuck 3 times before they got the IV in. They push anti-nausea medication first, followed by the DHE, and finished up by a magnesium drip. Just like I thought the DHE started making me feel weird. I felt like the world was spinning faster then it was. The magnesium helped calm down the spinning.
After the medication push I talked to the therapist & enjoyed that. We broke for lunch at noon. Once we were back we had our group session. I found out that I have been suffering from migraines longer then the other 2 woman. My husband was there with me which was very nice.
Before we got to leave for the day we had our second treatment. I took the anti-nausea meds like a champ. But once my DHE was on board my dizziness got a lot worse. We sat there until it subsided. Tomorrow I am going to have them change my IV cause my arm is hurting like hell. I did walk out with a 2 for a migraine but I came back to the hotel and took a nap.
I got asked a question before our group session was over. Well the whole group was. We were asked what are you going to do once you walk out of the clinic on Friday Chronic Migraine Free. This clinic isn't promising a cure but they want to break the chronic cycle so we can live semi-normal lives. So here's my question to all of you.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WALKED OUT CHRONIC MIGRAINE FREE??

You can break that cycle and stop the migraine from being any more chronic. But you have to be careful about the treatments that you're made to go through. DHE can help minimize the pain, yet it is prone to side effects. If you think that it doesn’t suit you at all, it might be time to try out alternative ways to deal with your migraine.
